The Occurrence: Part I
Out of the blue of an otherwise perfectly ordinary day, it came careening down from the sky, crashing in a spectacular and seemingly endless cloud of shimmering ash that spread throughout the land, sparing nothing. No one could possibly have known what would ensue. When the dust finally settled, it was onto a world that would be forever transformed. Some say it began on the day that The Child first noticed an almost imperceptible difference in the colors on a snake. But it was still the Before Times, and no one yet understood.

What All agreed on, in retrospect, is that there is a dark side to seductive beauty that at first remains unseen…

Sweet Dreams

The rose has been a symbol of God's presence in various situations since ancient times. It offers a glimpse of the masterful creator's active handiwork in the world. As the rose blooms, its buds gradually open up to reveal blossoms with layers, illustrating how spiritual wisdom unfolds in people's lives.

"The Creator's Soul" represents emerging technologies that allow creators to explore different realities and perspectives. The rose symbolizes the creator's soul in the virtual realm, as they push the boundaries of creation across digital realities and realms through collaboration, imagination, and storytelling.

The artwork is a digitally painted and drawn-over photograph of the rose, using a color palette commonly used in the metaverse. The layers of paint splashes, doodles, and line work represent the collaboration of different art forms across different realities and realms.

I saved the rendering and collected images for the collage work: newspapers and advertisements meant to collect Black people, from running away, to take to prison, to work the land, front page photos, and art for The Kissing Case.

Neural in Augmentation 

Welcome to un OTRO MUNDO, this is the first piece minted for COEXISTENCIA, a mixed-media digital art series that blends eco-feminism, indigenous futurism, magical elements, and co-existence with nature. Each piece depicts a surreal scene that captures an intimate moment with biomorphic creatures, mothers caring for their young or entities contemplating reproduction; an invocation of the conscious evolution of a new mythological human species.

Created by Protagonista (AKA Tanya Vlach), this series began as an experiment with generating fantasy scenes through AI processing in October 2022. The scenes are then refined and expanded in Procreate, and some pieces are further explored through an embodied and tactile process by physically adding different mediums for texture. By taking these precious scenes out of the digital realm transforming them it the physical, and then returning them into the digital as offerings, each NFT in the COEXISTENCIA series holds magical metaphysical properties

Welcome to un OTRO MUNDO  

We stand at the nexus of two worlds, a portal into the unknown. Two half’s representing a whole, one half a twin of the other, one represents the real, the other, the virtual. 

Trees also represent for me, conduits to other realms, they too are the nexus between worlds and dimensions, so I often represent them in my virtual work. They become the imaginative bridge between the physical and the virtual. They are the symbolic portals like Yggdrasil the world tree holding the nine worlds: this I think, is a perfect allegorical representation of the Metaverse.

This piece is a mixed media digital painting with free flow and expression. When I was younger I wanted so desperately to be a ballerina. I would borrow the same 10 books from the library over and over again just to admire the dancers and the outfits. I started to take ballet lessons at age 5, but shortly after was diagnosed with JRA. The doctors said I "couldn't" do it anymore.  I was devastated.
In this day and age, things would be different, but back then it was not common for a child to be diagnosed with an "old person's disease", and in so many instances people just didn't know what to do with me.
I don't think ballet was my calling, but somehow the beauty of it finds its way into my work every now and then. My expression is that I create...that is my calling.

The Occurrence: The Child #1

This piece explores the interstitial space between portal thresholds.  What is the experience, how does it feel, what do you see. Instead of a instantaneous transition from one space to another, this seeks to capture the process.  The interstitial space between thresholds is an ephemeral and evanescent realm, where the boundaries of reality dissolve into a fluid and amorphous state, and the construct of time becomes elusive and ambiguous.

Translucent fluid form edges transform and hint at materials of rock, water, and clouds.  Illuminated concentric circles and ornamental lines act as wayfinding devices, guiding the viewer to the other side.

Multiple text2img, text2video, blends, and interpolations were used in fabricating this final piece. Music was also created in collaboration with artificial intelligence.

Beyond the Threshold : The Portal

The central theme of GunsRule#02 is the problem of gun violence in the United States, which consistently harms the nation's children. Throughout history, the foundation of the United States has been established and dominated through gun violence. As a result, many lawmakers prioritize profit and money over the well-being of their constituents, particularly those they deem different from themselves, exhibiting little care for the lives of their own citizens, particularly children.

'ANCESTOR_01’ is part of a larger project entitled, 'Creature Bizarro.' exploring themes of the survival of African-descended people kidnapped & brought to the usA from the era of enslavement to the present-day acts of oppression. Themes of dehumanization and violence, family unity, and spiritual ties for healing are expressed through vivid imagery, haunting music, and live dancer's motion data captured via motion capture transfer to 3D-modeled characters and objects.

THINKER

For me, this image signifies an awareness of hybrid living, along a spectrum from partially to complete immersion in a virtual or metaverse reality. A cyborg ontology for humans is becoming clearer and clearer, and expanding exponentially from the seemingly “innocent” days of Web 01 in the early 1990s. Now almost every human on the planet has their reality altered, enhanced, or impacted by digital technologies; as this technology facilitates and intervenes with next level ecosystems of biology, consciousness, and commerce. We see this evolutionary trending in the advent and implementation of Web3, AI, and the Blockchain.
