This mosaic piece made of tile, glass, mirror and other materials was made to honor Latina entrepreneur Angela Angulo. One of the honorees of Latinitas 2022 courageous leader celebration. Latinitas is Austins only bilingual STEM education nonprofit for 20 years. Angulo is the Owner and publisher of El Mundo newspaper, Central Texas’s official Latin American Spanish Language Newspaper and manages Hispatex, assisting Spanish speakers and immigrants with tax consultations. Altogether the organization will continue to assist, inspire and empower young women. By purchasing this piece you will be helping the support of Latinitas.

I wanted to capture Reji and her artistry through every tile. Knowing that she was an mosaic artist as well helped me along the way on choosing the right mediums. Reji Thomas is a strong leader in the Black community here in Austin through her works of art and I wanted to embody that through this piece. With the help of The Mosaic Workshop this piece will be used to help further support the causes for Latinita’s.  Latinita’s is Austin’s only bilingual STEM education nonprofit for 20 years. Mixture Within Reji

To celebrate 20 years of Austin, TX based nonprofit Latinitas empowering all girls and gender expansive individuals to innovate, with a goal of creating create strong leaders, six courageous female leaders of color who laid the groundwork for social change in Austin were honored in a series of portraits made in 2022. This portrait is of Dr. Maggie Rivas-Rodriguez who received her Ph.D. as a Freedom Forum doctoral fellow from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her masters from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism and a bachelor of journalism degree is from the University of Texas at Austin. Rivas-Rodriguez is best known for founding Voces, an oral history project documenting the lives of almost 1,000 Latinx American veterans. The portrait was created by Veronica Ceci an artist with a decades long exhibition history and works in many major collections.

This is my very first NFT piece, originally done on wood panel. This is a very personal and transitional piece for me, and it is my only NFS original art. It speaks to the power and joy of individuality, as well as sisterhood.

This piece is the largest of a series that is a nod to the work of Alphonse Mucha. I’ve always loved and appreciated Mucha’s use of color and composition. His frequent use of peaches, browns, olive greens, and soft pastels juxtaposed with dark earthy tones really speak to my heart. Upon researching Mucha, I learned that so many of his famous masterpieces were actually just advertisements for the times. It seems insane to me that these beautiful pieces of art that we love so dearly were simply ads for cigarette papers or absinthe. Even the masters had to humble themselves to make a living. 
With the series I wanted to illuminate ridiculous advertisements and the exploitation of the artist to sell products. The titles and stories behind each piece are based off of the targetted ads I see in my own social media. Differing from Mucha’s ads for various vices, like alcohol or cigarettes, the ads I see are about wellness, beauty, and the bastardized version of these things: unnecessary pseudo-health products and the villainization of natural aging. The actual art bears no resemblance to any of the products advertised, which is to further demonstrate the exploitation of art for commercialism.

This is of a 8x10" original watercolor of Austin classic, Shady Grove. Located on Barton Springs, the home of the notorious Unplugged Thursdays, had to close its doors at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020. Loved by many locals and visitors, Shady Grove is missed dearly but will be remembered as an Austin staple.

“Dream Yourself Awake,” my debut NFT, is a time lapse video, giving the viewer a glimpse into my process as a mixed media artist. This piece is the ethos and visual conceptualization of a large scale physical mixed media piece. Both the NFT and large scale piece are being debuted at the 6th Annual LUSH art show with atxGALS at The Cathedral in Austin, TX.

Much of my work begins with a color story and then weaves in the art of lettering, typography and calligraphy, taking the viewer on a spiritual journey while paying homage to just a touch of rock ’n roll. 

This piece involves analog methods of scanned graphite sketches paired with clippings from old illustration books and digital renderings. I often showcase my love for the letter arts by including some original poetry compositions. Many of my inspirations are drawn from ancient wisdoms and Mother Nature.
